Learn Your Home’s Language to Achieve Your Dreams!
Tuesday May 16, 2023
Tuesday May 16, 2023
In this episode of The Coffee with Karen podcast, Karen Roberts welcomes Beverly, a transformation coach and Feng Shui consultant, to discuss the importance of learning your home's language to achieve your dreams. Beverly shares her background growing up on a pig farm in Kansas and how she learned water witching from her father, using nature to ground herself. She also talks about her fascination with gene expression and how it impacts physical bodies and emotions. Beverly shares how her breast cancer diagnosis led her to study Feng Shui and how it can be used as a vocabulary to translate the message that the universe is trying to get through to you.
Beverly explains the bagua map, which divides your space into nine equal sections, with each section correlating to a different part of your life. Karen and Beverly discuss Beverly's work and life experiences, including her studies with seven different teachers, her time in the magazine industry, commercial interiors, specialty plant nurseries, and real estate. They have an engaging conversation about Beverly's work and how listeners can use Feng Shui to achieve their dreams.
One essential aspect of Feng Shui that Beverly discusses is the importance of dealing with clutter and how it can affect our emotional and mental wellbeing. The host shares her personal experience of how she had to bring in a professional organizer to help her deal with the clutter that had accumulated in her space in her office. Beverly explains how the location of clutter in a home can reveal a lot about a person's inner story and that by addressing these issues, she can help her clients move forward with their lives. She emphasizes the importance of recognizing and addressing the stories we tell ourselves about our lives, as by becoming aware of these stories, we can take control of our lives and make positive changes.
Beverly also discusses how Feng Shui can be used to help people achieve specific goals, such as getting a promotion or becoming a parent. She explains how different areas of the home can be used to enhance certain aspects of a person's life, such as the south sector for fame and reputation, which can help someone looking to get a promotion. Beverly suggests using candles, red envelopes, and gratitude letters in this sector to create a tangible reminder of the intangible mental shift that is necessary for success.
The guest also talks about how Feng Shui can be used in the workplace. Beverly explains that she works with both companies and individuals to create a positive environment that can improve productivity and overall wellbeing. She also emphasizes that Feng Shui is not just about rearranging furniture, but rather about creating a positive energy flow that can have a profound effect on a person's life.
Throughout the podcast, Beverly emphasizes the importance of recognizing the interconnectedness of mental, physical, and spiritual health. The guest highlights the importance of health as the central hub of a bicycle wheel and how everything in life is interconnected. She uses Feng Shui to enhance her environment and remove any speed bumps, such as clutter, leaking faucets, and toilet lids. Beverly also describes the nine sectors of the home, including career and life path, skills and knowledge, family and ancestors, wealth and abundance, fame and reputation, relationships and partnerships, helpful people and travel, health, and love and marriage.
In conclusion, this podcast provides an informative discussion of how to enhance your environment and promote good energy flow in your home, which can ultimately enhance your mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing. Karen and Beverly's conversation offers listeners insight into how they can use Feng Shui to achieve their dreams and create a positive energy flow in their lives. Listeners will appreciate the knowledge and expertise shared in this episode, which can help them make positive changes in their lives.

Reconnecting with your heart and reclaiming yourself
Monday May 15, 2023
Monday May 15, 2023
Welcome to The Coffee with Karen podcast, where every week Karen Roberts discusses everything from holistic health to current affairs from a mental, physical, and spiritual perspective. In this episode, Karen welcomes the lovely Amrita Rose, a writer, life and career coach, and wisdom worker. They delve into how to reconnect with your heart and reclaim yourself, a topic that's essential for anyone seeking growth and personal development.
Amrita has navigated through three major career changes in her life and recently published her first book, "No Plaid Suits: How Not to Have a Boring, Normal Life," which has garnered five-star reviews. Amrita's community-based programs of yoga, meditation, integrated art practices, and positive psychology have received enthusiastic appreciation.
Amrita shares with Karen how she wanted to make the world a better place and to bring all the information she shared with clients and in her blog out to a broader group of people. The result was her book, a series of short essays that cover everything from how to cook a meal to how to let go of any relationship, romantic or professional. The book is a mix of wisdom and enthusiasm that reflects resilience, confidence, and coming home to oneself.
The conversation between Karen and Amrita revolves around the theme of embracing change to achieve personal growth. They discuss the reasons why people tend to resist change and the various ways one can overcome that resistance. The podcast is engaging and insightful, providing listeners with practical tips on how to make changes in their lives that are aligned with their hearts.
Amrita points out that people often resist change because of a biological imperative to survive. The primitive part of the brain, the reptilian brain, is responsible for keeping us safe and surviving. As a result, this part of the brain prefers to stick with what we already know, whether it is wonderful or horrible. This is where resistance comes from. She stresses that anything new feels really prickly and uncomfortable in the beginning, and one has to train all the parts of the body that this new thing will not kill them.
The conversation goes on to describe the three levels of alignment and resonance that one can come into. The first is the brain, which resonates on energy. Everything is made of energy, and the brain processes information very quickly. The emotions are triggered by the thoughts in the brain, and they process a little bit slower. The emotional system is chemical and electrical, and it asks, "how do I feel about that?" The body, which is literally mass, takes the longest time to process change. The physical body takes time to adjust to new routines and needs patience in the process.
Karen and Amrita emphasize that one needs to question one's beliefs about change and be willing to think about what would serve them. For example, someone who wants to quit their job but is afraid of losing their house should question their assumptions. Perhaps they don't need the house they have right now, or they could move to a different location. There are many ways to make changes that are aligned with one's heart, and the podcast encourages listeners to explore those possibilities.
The conversation between Karen and Amrita is an excellent resource for anyone looking to embrace change and achieve personal growth. Listeners will gain a better understanding of why they resist change and how they can overcome that resistance. They will also learn about the three levels of alignment and resonance and how to work with them to make lasting changes. Overall, this podcast is a must-listen for anyone seeking to make meaningful changes in their lives.
In addition to discussing personal growth, Karen and Amrita delve into the societal pressures that impact our self-worth. They explore the impact of Western culture's devaluation of elders and the effects of consumerism and the patriarchy on our self-esteem. Karen and Amrita emphasize the importance of reconnecting with ourselves to feel whole and complete.

The Pivot
Thursday May 11, 2023
Thursday May 11, 2023
In this episode of The Coffee with Karen podcast, Karen Roberts interviews Jorge Vasquez, a life coach who helps people achieve a balanced life by focusing on the mind, body, and spirit. Jorge shares his personal story of going through a difficult period when he lost everything after being betrayed by his business partner and wife. He was left homeless and receiving hate mail from his investors. However, a junior marine he used to mentor approached him for help, which became a turning point for Jorge. He realized that he could use his knowledge and experience to help others, and this gave him a sense of purpose.
Karen and Jorge discuss how people can pivot during challenging times and find meaning in their lives. They talk about the importance of focusing on what you can control and how having a balanced life can help you cope with stress and setbacks. Karen emphasizes the need for self-care and how small changes can make a big difference. Jorge also talks about how he helps his clients identify their values and goals and create a plan to achieve them.
The conversation then shifts towards the difficulties men face in expressing their emotions and how societal expectations often force them to keep their emotions bottled up. The hosts agree that it is unfair that men are not encouraged to talk about their emotions without fear of judgment. The conversation also touches upon the issue of extremism in gender politics and how it is not necessary to go to either extreme of masculine or feminine energy.
The podcast hosts also discuss the loneliness that often comes with entrepreneurship and how networking and coaching events can be helpful in connecting with like-minded individuals. The conversation turns to the struggles that men face in acknowledging their need for help and why it is difficult for them to ask for it. They discuss how societal conditioning, particularly in the military, can contribute to men suppressing their emotions.
In the latter part of the episode, Jorge talks about his experiences during the lockdown in March 2020. He shares that he had already lost everything before the lockdown and was on the street, donating plasma to pay for his phone bill and food. However, he found inspiration in this experience and believes that there is always a silver lining and something to learn from it. He learned that he needed balance in his life, as he was spending too much time working and not enough time with his significant other. This caused problems in their relationship and made him realize the importance of setting boundaries. He also talks about his health issues and how he navigates through them holistically. He believes that our bodies are designed to heal themselves, and we just need time, focus, and energy to dedicate to it. He stresses the importance of rest and recuperation and has a morning, afternoon, and evening ritual to help him maintain balance in his life.
In the final part of this podcast, Jorge talks about the importance of maintaining a positive routine to stay balanced and deal with problems effectively. He emphasizes the need to complete one's routine before addressing any problems that may arise. The conversation then shifts towards the impact of stress on modern-day society, despite the absence of physical threats like bears and tigers. Jorge highlights the cyclical nature of society, with tough times breeding strong men and soft times breeding weak people. He also talks about the role of masculinity and femininity in the workplace, stating that people should not confuse taking on masculine roles with success in male-dominated areas. The podcast concludes with an engaging conversation on the importance of balancing masculine and feminine energies to succeed in the business world.
Overall, this podcast episode offers practical tips and insights on how to stay positive and resilient during tough times. It also delves deep into the personal experiences of Jorge Vasquez, providing listeners with valuable perspectives on personal growth and success. The episode's unique perspective on the role of masculinity and femininity in the workplace is both thought-provoking and enlightening, making it an essential listen.

Tuesday May 02, 2023
Tuesday May 02, 2023
Welcome to episode 142 of the Coffee with Karen podcast. In this episode, Karen talks to Marcy McDonald, a mindset expert and end-of-life doula. Marcy shares her journey from working in a six-figure corporate job to living out of her car and becoming an internationally certified end-of-life doula. She emphasizes the importance of paying attention to death as it resets one's mindset and allows them to truly live.
Karen and Marcy discuss the importance of paying attention to one's body and emotions. The first step in mindfulness is to pay attention to what is happening in the body and notice where tension is showing up. Marcy explains that the emotional mind is in control and works quickly, processing a quadrillion bits of information in the time it takes to blink. This mind draws from the past and highly charged negative emotions to react to situations, but it is possible to change this through awareness and taking steps to bring the rational mind forward.
Marcy believes that paying attention to death is important because it resets one's mindset and allows them to live intentionally every day. They encourage listeners to think about the things they have been wanting to change about themselves for ages but haven't done and to stop putting things off for "someday," which is the same as saying no day. They emphasize that the brain is plastic, and it is possible to change no matter what burdens or interpretations one has been carrying.
The conversation then turns to why people struggle to deal with grief and death, even though they are inevitable parts of life. Marcy suggests that it's because we are not equipped to deal with them and are not taught how to process them. She shares her personal experience of losing her father and how it was a mixed barrage of feelings. Marcy encourages people to face their own death and have a guide to help them through it, as this process is enlightening and can be uplifting.
Marcy also discusses how to differentiate facts from stories and how we can re-pattern our stories to live emotionally healthy lives. She shares a personal story about her mother being manic depressive and schizophrenic and how this experience affected her life for a long time until she learned to separate facts from the story. Karen and Marcy emphasize that we have to be fully present and ask ourselves whether what we are telling ourselves is true or just a story. Marcy suggests that a coach who has been trained in listening to what people say about themselves can be very useful in helping people learn to hear themselves and re-pattern their stories.
Finally, Marcy explains how being a doula has helped her with the mindset of being fully present when someone only has a few days to live, which she applies when she is with clients as well. This conversation is a reminder to all of us that we have the power to reset our mindset and live intentionally every day by paying attention to our body, emotions, and the inevitability of death. We hope this episode inspires you to live your life to the fullest, starting today.

In this thought-provoking episode of the podcast, Karen Roberts welcomes Jasmine Jackson, a health and fitness coach, to the show. Jasmine is the founder of Saayit Fitness, a company that aims to help people take control of their health and fitness journeys. In this conversation, Jasmine shares her personal journey of struggling to maintain her weight for ten years before finding her path in the health and fitness industry. She started as a blogger, then started helping people by giving them meal plans, before finally transitioning to group fitness and becoming a certified coach. By January 2022, she had even hired her first employee, a testament to the success of her business.
Karen Roberts also shares her background in the fitness industry, starting as a step instructor in 1999 and eventually deciding to quit 25 years later. The two women discuss the shift from working in other industries to finding their true passion in health and fitness coaching. Jasmine talks about her realization that she is a natural leader who figures things out on her own and wanted more time for herself, leading her to take the leap and start her own business.
In the second part of the podcast, Jasmine shares her ongoing journey of learning to love her body. She talks about the societal pressure to achieve a certain weight or body shape and how she used to be overly focused on the scale and achieving results. However, she now recognizes the importance of being healthy overall, and acknowledges the mental aspect of weight loss and how self-sabotage and instant gratification can lead to unhealthy habits. She shares her journey of starting small, by walking during her breaks when she was still working, and gradually making progress towards her health goals. She also shares how the pandemic and lockdown affected her journey, causing her to fall back into unhealthy habits.
The hosts also discuss the issue of portion sizes and how people have become accustomed to larger and larger servings. They touch on the importance of meal prep and understanding the role of hypertension and stress on the body. The hosts emphasize the need to find reputable studies and take control of one's own health, including avoiding the brainwashing that comes from watching too much television and social media. They also touch on the issue of body image and the pressures people face to conform to certain standards.
Throughout the episode, the hosts share their own personal experiences and offer practical tips for living a healthier life. They emphasize the importance of self-love and self-care, and the need to prioritize mental health in addition to physical health. Overall, this podcast provides a compelling and insightful look into the world of health and fitness coaching, as well as the societal pressures and mental hurdles that come with it. It's an inspiring conversation for anyone looking to take control of their own health and well-being.

Burnout
Tuesday Apr 25, 2023
Tuesday Apr 25, 2023
In this episode of "Coffee with Karen," host Karen invites Dr. Mary Sanders, a chiropractor and medical intuitive, to talk about burnout. Dr. Sanders has over 25 years of experience as a self-employed businesswoman and consultant, and 15 years ago, she experienced burnout firsthand. Dr. Sanders took an extreme approach to dealing with burnout; she panicked and ran away to the other side of the world. Today, Dr. Sanders is committed to supporting women who want to transform the way they show up in this world and experience thriving health, happiness, and utilize the tools of energy medicine, chiropractic, functional blood chemistry analysis, and positive psychology.
Dr. Sanders begins by explaining that she graduated chiropractic school at a young age of 25, without any business training, a business coach, or knowing what she was doing. She had a tremendous amount of failures, but through perseverance and resilience and consistent work, eventually, those few events turned out to create a thriving business. Dr. Sanders had a wellness tech practice with multiple doctors, multiple staff, and leave. However, she was miserable, and her immune system was compromised. She had huge dysfunction within her thyroid. Her skin was an absolute mess. She was unable to sleep through the night, physically, and emotionally. She really never felt good enough, no matter how many new patients she had coming into the practice. As a self-employed business person and a female, she became pessimistic and cynical and withdrew from her family, including her husband. Dr. Sanders realized that she was going through some adrenal exhaustion and her hormones were all over the place. It took about a year of doing Myers cocktails, glutathione injections, tons of adrenal supplements, regular sleep, and no exercise to get enough energy to walk a mile.
Dr. Sanders's story highlights how easy it is to neglect our physical and emotional health when we're working hard, especially as self-employed businesspeople. Burnout is a widespread problem, and it's essential to recognize the signs and symptoms and take action to prevent it. The episode offers a holistic approach to helping people deal with burnout, including energy medicine, chiropractic, functional blood chemistry analysis, and positive psychology. The discussion emphasizes the importance of self-care, self-worth, and optimism, all of which are essential to thriving health, happiness, and success. Dr. Sanders's journey to recovery from burnout offers hope and encouragement to listeners who may be struggling with similar challenges.
The hosts talk about the human capacity to tap into frequencies and information, which is a skill that can be learned with fine tuning and listening. They believe that everyone has the ability to do it, but many people haven't learned how to do it or haven't become in tune with it. The hosts discuss the importance of practicing this skill to fine-tune it and explain how they meditate on a daily basis to intentionally put themselves in an expanded state to receive information.
They then delve into the topic of energy management for people in the service industry who are constantly giving their energy to their clients. They discuss how people in this industry feel they have to give 110% of themselves to their clients, but this can lead to burnout. The hosts recommend a neutral separation technique that they were taught at the academy. This technique involves opening up the space of the second chakra, which is located right underneath the belly button, to absorb other people's energy. They explain that as practitioners, they hold the energy so that their patients can feel better, but this can compromise their own energy centers over time.
The hosts explain that the technique involves neutralizing the energy before returning it to its source. This process allows the practitioner to embrace what it's like to receive their energy back and protect themselves from the energy of their clients. They recommend that people in the service industry learn this technique to prevent burnout and maintain their own energy levels.
The hosts then discuss their personal experiences with energy exchange. One host talks about teaching fitness classes and how the energy transference gave her energy back, while doing sports massage drained her energy because she wasn't taught about energy and frequency. They explain that many people in the service industry aren't taught about energy and frequency, which is why they need to learn techniques like neutral separation to protect their own energy levels.
Overall, the hosts emphasize the importance of learning energy management techniques and fine-tuning the skill of tapping into frequencies and information. They believe that everyone has the ability to do it, but it takes practice and listening to your own unique way of receiving information. They encourage people in the service industry to prioritize their own energy levels and learn techniques to protect themselves from burnout.
In this episode of the podcast, Karen and her guest, a medical intuitive, talk about the benefits of meditation and how it can help us get in touch with our inner selves. They also discuss the importance of listening to our bodies and trusting the messages the universe sends us. The guest shares a personal story about how ignoring these messages led to an injury that forced her to take a step back and reevaluate her life. Karen also shares a similar story about how she ignored multiple messages from the universe before finally getting injured and realizing she needed to make a change.
The guest starts off by encouraging listeners who think they don't have time for meditation to take a longer session, pointing out that those who think they don't have time may need it the most. They discuss how meditation allows us to observe our thoughts and emotions in a non-judgmental, compassionate way, and how this can help us find balance and get out of our own way.
The conversation then turns to the guest's work as a medical intuitive, and she explains that her intention is to help people find balance and get to the root cause of their issues. She emphasizes that she is just a conduit for information, and that the information she receives is not intended for her, but for the person she is working with.
Karen and the guest then share personal stories about how they ignored messages from the universe before finally getting injured and realizing they needed to make a change. The guest shares how she ignored multiple messages before injuring her arm, and Karen shares how she ignored daily messages for years before injuring her shoulder. They both emphasize the importance of listening to our bodies and trusting the messages the universe sends us, and how ignoring them can lead to physical injuries and other issues.
Overall, this episode is a powerful reminder of the importance of taking care of ourselves and listening to our bodies. It encourages us to take the time to meditate, observe our thoughts and emotions, and trust the messages the universe sends us. It also reminds us that sometimes we need to take a step back and reevaluate our lives in order to find balance and happiness.
